How your Balls could Save your Life

The only constants in life are death and taxes, and most of us try to put them both off for as long as possible. Its no real secret that exercise and a healthy diet can lead to a longer life, but a new study has found that there’s another very important factor. Right between your legs. Yes boys, your balls could save your life.

A recent study by Dr. Michael Eisenberg has discovered a link between poor semen quality and higher risk of death. For the study, men from the Stanford Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Semen Database in California and the Baylor College of Medicine Special Procedures Laboratory in Texas who had been evaluated for fertility between the years of 1989 and 2011 were studied. Their names and Social Security numbers were then cross-referenced with the Social Security Death Index and the National Death Index. The results were downright scary.

Men with abnormal sperm parameters were found to have a consistently higher risk of death than those with normal parameters.  That means that men with impaired sperm count, lower motility and semen volume are more likely to die prematurely than their super swimmer counterparts. In the case of oligozoospermia (low sperm count), the death rate was 2.2 times higher. And it’s all downhill from there. The worse shape the sperm are in, the higher the risk of premature death. That’s some pretty depressing data , but there is good news: treat your balls well, and they’ll return the favor.

Sperm quality isn’t set in stone. Just like unhealthy choices damage your sperm, healthy choices can improve them. Furthermore, as a general rule, if it’s good for your heart, it’s also good for your swimmers. That means that your sperm healthy choices aren’t only keeping your swimmers in peak performance condition, they are also keeping your heart in tip top shape. 

A change in diet, exercise, avoidance of sperm harming toxins can all help you make drastic changes to your sperm health.Think of it this way: every time you drop the donut, hit the gym, or cut back on the post-game beers, you are making the choice to live a longer, healthier life. The results of this study don’t have to be depressing. It’s just a wake-up call to start paying attention to what your balls (and the rest of your body) are telling you, so that you can live to become an old badass like this guy.
